Our goal at Hilltop is to make the admissions process as stress free and rewarding as possible. We hope you will get to know us and likewise that we will get to know your child and your family. Hilltop Country Day School is more than a school; it’s a community.

Our program is dynamic to the needs of each student that walks through our doors and what is best for your child is at the heart of every decision we make.

Admissions Checklist

Early Childhood Division

(Preschool, Prekindergarten and Kindergarten)

Students entering preschool should be 2.5 years old and fully toilet trained and those entering prekindergarten should be 4 years old by October 1 of their entry year.

  1. Application: Please complete the online application here and remit the non-refundable $106 application fee.
  2. Parent Conference
  3. Developmental Readiness Assessment: Applicants are invited to a screening conducted by our faculty members which provide the candidates with an opportunity to interact with peers, listen to a story and have some individual time with our faculty. This visit lasts about an hour.
  4. Teacher Recommendation (may be completed by the school director): These should be mailed directly from the teacher to Hilltop’s admissions office.

LOWER SCHOOL (1-4)

  1. Application: Please complete the online application here and remit the non-refundable $106 application fee.

  3. Parent Conference
  4. Developmental Readiness Assessment: Applicants are invited to a group screening with approximately 10-12 others in their age group. These group screenings are conducted by our faculty members and provide the candidates with an opportunity to interact with peers and have some individual time with our teachers, who will evaluate your child in reading, mathematics and writing.
  5. Recommendations (one teacher and one principal): These should be mailed directly from the teacher to Hilltop’s Admissions Office.

UPPER SCHOOL (5-8)

  1. Application: Please complete the online application here and remit the non-refundable $106 application fee.
  2. Release of Student Records Download the form here.
  3. Visit Day (includes parent conference, student interview, writing sample, and any additional testing deemed needed): Once your application has been received the admissions office will contact you to set up a visit day.
  4. Recommendations (one English teacher, one Math teacher, and one principal): These should be mailed directly from the teacher to Hilltop’s admissions office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Snack is provided for students in preschool, prekindergarten and kindergarten. All students have the option to bring lunch from home or participate in our optional lunch program through Villa Capri II in Sparta.

Transportation to Hilltop or aid in lieu may be available through your home district. Please visit our transportation page for more information.

Hilltop Country Day School accepts applications for all grades on a rolling basis. Admissions decision notifications are typically made within 10 days of receipt of a completed application, including all supporting documentation. 

The average student-teacher ratio is 10:1.
