ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Hilltop’s Enrichment Programs are designed to provide students with interesting and innovative educational experiences between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Our programs are open to public school students and the homeschooling community. 

MUSIC LESSONS

Music Lessons are available after school Monday – Friday. Lessons are $30 per half hour session. The fees are billed each trimester.

Please note that class sizes are limited; therefore, please register online below or email lmcgee@hilltopcds.org. Please register promptly as many classes fill up quickly. You will be contacted only if the class limit has already been met, or if we do not have sufficient enrollment to run the program.  Please remember that classes do not meet when school is not in session..

MONDAY


Fencing

Grades 2 – 8
Cost: $190/month or $65 single session
Time: 2:45 – 3:45 p.m.

Learn one of the safest, elegant and exhilarating Olympic sports. Students will learn discipline, coordination, sportsmanship, fencing footwork. Drills and open bouting. Fencing equipment included.

Make and Take Makerspace

Pre-Kindergarten – 8
Cost: $60 /  4 Sessions (September 10, 17, 24, Oct 1) and (Oct 15, 22, 29, Nov 5) and (Nov 12, 19, 26, Dec 3)
Time: 4:30 – 5:30

Make and Take Makerspace – learn a new craft, socialize and have fun with littleBits, MakeyMakey, Chibitronics and more.

Girls Who Code

Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8
Cost: No Fee (Begins September 12)
Time: 3:30 – 4:30

Hilltop Country Day School has been selected by the Girls Who Code organization to host an official Girls Who Code Club. The club offers 3rd – 5th and 6th – 8th grade girls the opportunity to learn core concepts in computer science through projects based on their interests. Participants also complete a final project designed to make an impact on their community.

Karate

Grades 1-8
Cost: $220 Mondays / $395 Mondays and Thursdays
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

East West Karate Academy brings the Isshinryu form of Karate to Hilltop. East West provides martial arts programs whether you’re beginner, intermediate or advanced. Karate provides a healthy and exciting way to learn new skills, increase strength and focus. Two times per week is recommended. (Mondays and Thursdays).

Fitness – Yoga & More

Grades: Preschool – Grade 2
Cost: $70 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:30 – 4:00

The goal of this class is to define fitness as “fun”. No two classes are the same, but each one includes the core functional movements that are fundamental to all that kids do. In addition to developing body control, participants begin shaping lives for a healthy lifestyle.

Board Games & Card Games

PreKindergarten – Grade 2
Cost: $100 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:15 – 4:00

Board games and card games will be used to engage participants in age appropriate board games and activities with lots of fun and learning along the way.

Math Lab

Grades 1 – 8
Cost: $150 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Math Lab is a series mathematics enrichment projects for students in Grades 1-4. The opportunities enable students to explore math in different contexts and to be exposed to a variety of concepts to extend thinking. 5th – 8th Students will prepare for participation in the annual MathCounts competition. Birding

Grade 3 – Grade 8
Cost: $150 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Participants will explore Hilltop’s campus in pursuit of local birds. “Birders” will learn how to use a field guide and binoculars. As well as be inspired to begin a life long bird journal. Binoculars suggested but not required.

Art Clayworks

Grades 5 – 8
Cost: $160 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Participants will explore and refine techniques using clay. One piece will be fired in the school kiln.

Soccer

Preschool – Grade 2
Cost: $135/8 sessions 
Time: 3:15 – 4:15

This program introduces children to fundamental soccer principals such as using your feet, dribbling, and the basic rules of the game.

Hilltop Running Club (Wednesday/Friday)

Grade 4 – Grade 8
Cost: $60 1 day / $100 2 days / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

The Hilltop Cross Country Club is a 8 session program for all girls and boys grades 3-8 that teaches the fundamentals of distance running with weekly challenges and an opportunity to run together as a club. The club will focus on proper stretching and forms as well as improving strength and endurance.

LEGO Robotics Team

Grades 3 -8
Cost: $60 
Time: 3:00 – 4:30

Participants will prepare for The FIRST LEGO League competition. Students will be challenged to think like scientists and engineers. During the season, teams solve real-world problems through a series of projects. They will build, test and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORM. This club is sponsored by ThorLabs and will be Hilltop’s 1st competition.

Eco Club

Grades 2-5
Cost: $150 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

This group will be members of Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots organization. Club members will learn about both local and global environmental initiatives. Additionally, participants will help in ourOutdoor Classroom and lead the school’s recycling commitment.

Cooking

Grades 2-5
Cost: $150 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Join us for the next generation of healthy chefs. Students will learn where their food comes from and gain a foundation of culinary skills.

Karate

Grades 1-8
Cost: $220 Mondays / $395 Mondays and Thursdays
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Learn to navigate around the latest technologies. Explore new games and programs including Minecraft for Education.

Art Paint an Snack

Grades 1 – 4
Cost: $150 / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Participates will enjoy a snack while explore different types of paint and mediums as they build and refine techniques in painting One piece will be completed on canvas. Instructor: SuzAnne Pacala

Maxwell’s Adventures

Preschool – Grade 1
Cost: $150 / 10 Sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Whether it’s Star Wars, Pokemon, or Avengers, Mrs. Maxwell will take you on a literary adventure full of crafts. Join us for a story and crafts!

Hilltop Running Club (Wednesday/Friday)

Grades 4 – 8
Cost: $60 1 day / $100 2 days / 10 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

The Hilltop Cross Country Club is a 8 session program for all girls and boys grades 3-8 that teaches the fundamentals of distance running with weekly challenges and an opportunity to run together as a club. Dash and Dot Robotics

Grades 1 – 5
Cost: $280 / 14 sessions
Time: 3:15 – 4:45

Students will use coding to direct and program these smart robots. Using apps and a tablet the students will learn to code while they make Dash sing, dance and navigate a series of challenges. Sensors on the robot mean they react to the environment around them, including the students. This class is registered to compete in the Dash & Dot Wonder League Robotics Competition in March.

Chess Club

Grades 1 – 8
Cost: $280/ 14 sessions 
Time: 4:45 – 6:00

Learn to play the wonderful and fun game of chess. The program will not only teach you all the rules of the game but also give you an idea of how to go about winning your game – from the opening to the endgame. Must have 8 students to run this club. If you already know how to play, your game will improve through competitive play, puzzles, and instruction on tactics and strategies. Some students will be invited to play outside tournaments and events.

Miniatures X-Wing Game

Grades 1 – 8
Cost: $150/ 10 sessions 
Time: 4:45 – 6:00

Minimum 5 students needed to run class. Students will be notified if the class will run. Time: 3:00 – 4:00 Join us as we play the miniatures game, X-Wing. Pilot and Imperial Tie Fighter, or a Rebel X-Wing and battle it out in Universe of Star Wars. Miniatures provided and also for sale at most Hobby Stores, Barnes and Noble booksellers, and Amazon.
