ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Hilltop’s Enrichment Programs are designed to provide students with interesting and innovative educational experiences between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Our programs are open to public school students and the homeschooling community. 

CURRENT OFFERINGS

Please note that class sizes are limited; therefore, please register online below or email lmcgee@hilltopcds.org. Please register promptly as many classes fill up quickly. You will be contacted only if the class limit has already been met, or if we do not have sufficient enrollment to run the program.  Please remember that classes do not meet when school is not in session.

Mondays

Fencing

Ages: Grades 2 – 8
Cost: $190/month or $65 single session
Time: 2:45 – 3:45 p.m.

Learn one of the safest, elegant and exhilarating Olympic sports. Students will learn discipline, coordination, sportsmanship, fencing footwork. Drills and open bouting. Fencing equipment included.

Open Makerspace

Ages: Pre-Kindergarten – 8
Cost: $50 /  4 Sessions (April 9, 16, 25, 30) and (May 7, 14, 21, June 4)
Time: 3:30 – 5:00

Make and Take Makerspace – learn a new craft, socialize and have fun with Perler beads, loom weaving, French knitting, arm knitting, hand knitting, finger knitting, no-sew crafts, hand sewing, rainbow loom, origami, cardboard, and wood construction and 3D printing.

Dungeons and Dragons

Ages: Grades 4-8
Cost: $130 / 8 sessions (April 9 – June 4) Minimum 5 students needed to run the class. Students will be notified if the class will run.
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Dungeons and Dragons Role Playing Game  Each student will assume the role of an adventurer seeking to help the village of Ravenswing rid themselves of a pack of bandits who are raiding travelers on a nearby road.  Of course… other adventures are only waiting to be discovered.

Tuesdays

Book & Cook

Ages: PreKindergarten – Grade 2
Cost: $80/ Four Sessions (April 10,17, 24, May 1) (May 8,15, 22,29)
Time: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Come join Mrs. DeStefano with a literature-based cooking class using favorite children’s stories and cooking projects based on them.

Origami

Ages: Pre-Kindergarten – 8
Cost: $48 /  4 Sessions (April 3, 10, 17, 24) 
Time: 3:30 – 4:30

Learn a new craft, socialize and learn the art of origami.

Advanced Karate

Ages: Grade 3 – Grade 8
Cost: $240/8 sessions
Time: 3:00 – 4:15

The main goal of the program is to teach the three R’s: Respect for Oneself, Responsibility for One’s Actions and Respect for Others.

Wednesdays 

Kiddie Soccer

Ages: PreKindergarten – Grade 2
Cost: $135/8 sessions (April, 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30)
Time: 3:15 – 4:15

Hilltop Running Club (Wednesday/Friday)

Ages: Grade 3 – Grade 8
Cost: Race Fees /9 Sessions Wednesdays April 4 – May 30)
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

The Hilltop Running Club is a 9 session program for all girls and boys grades 3-8 that teaches the fundamentals of running with weekly challenges and an opportunity to run together as a club in the Healthy Kids Running Series. The club will focus on proper stretching and forms as well as improving strength and endurance.  Register for races at  The Healthy Kids Running Series – 5 Weeks $35 (Sundays @ 4:30 April 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20) 75-yard dash, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, mile.  There may be other opportunities to run together as a club – instructors will keep you posted.

First Lego Robotics

Ages: Grade 3 – Grade 8
Cost: $45 September – May
Time: 3:30 – 5:00

Classes begin September  20 FIRST LEGO League challenges students to think like scientists and engineers. During the season teams will choose and solve real-world problems through a series of projects. They will build, test and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORM. Throughout the robotics experience, teams will operate under FIRST LEGO signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork and gracious professionalism.

Thursdays

Magic Treehouse STEAM Club

Ages: PreKindergarten – Grade 2
Cost: $165 / 11 sessions (March 8,15, April 5, 12, 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31)
Time: 3:15 – 4:15

Travel back in time, with Jack and Annie, the most beloved characters from the Magic Tree House Series, learning about the world around you. Each session will be followed by a STEAM-based activity relating to that particular story and time period.

Minecraft

Ages: Grade 1 – Grade 8
Cost: $140 / 8 weeks (April 12, 19, 26 May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31) LIMIT 10 STUDENTS    April 5 Make up Session from March 15 
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Join Mrs. Cherill for an adventure in Minecraft. Explore the exciting world of Minecraft Edu – all the best parts of the beloved game with added features like cameras, extra large signs and specialty blocks only found in the Edu version. Students will work collaboratively to build and protect a village, try their hand at coding and even make pixel art. There will be multi-player games and we’ll pit one team against the other in an all-out survival brawl!

Miniatures X-Wing Game

Ages: Grade 4 – Grade 8
Cost: $135 / 9 weeks (April 5, 12, 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31) Minimum 5 students needed to run class. Students will be notified if the class will run.
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Join us as we play the miniatures game, X-Wing. Pilot and Imperial Tie Fighter, or a Rebel X- Wing and battle it out in Universe of Star Wars. Miniatures provided and also for sale at most Hobby Stores, Barnes and Noble booksellers, and Amazon.

Fly Fishing and Fly Tying

Ages: Grade 4 – Grade 8
Cost: $60 /4 Sessions  Fridays: April 6 – April 27) Minimum 5 students needed to run the class. Students will be notified if the class will run.
Time: 3:00 – 4:00

Learn how to tie your own flies, from nymphs to streamers to the dry fly.  Then learn how to cast a line with a fly rod.  You will be all set to spend the rest of the summer fishing for any freshwater fish, in a lake or stream.  All equipment will be provided by the instructor.

Chess Club

Ages: Grade 1 – Grade 8
Cost: $280/ 14 sessions 
Time: 4:45 – 6:00

Learn to play the wonderful and fun game of chess at the “Hilltop Chess Club.” The program will not only teach you all the rules of the game but also give you an idea of how to go about winning your game – from the opening to the endgame. Must have 8 students to run this club. If you already know how to play, your game will improve through competitive play, puzzles, and instruction on tactics and strategies. Some students will be invited to play outside tournaments and events. We may even have a Hilltop chess team to play some other schools! This is for new, beginners and advanced players.
